Modular Wash Plant (WashPod + BWS-40) & Wastewater Treatment for Railway Ballast – In Partnership with Tecnoidea and metcam ag.

Our German customer, DURMIN Entsorgung und Logistik GmbH required a solution to their material processing operations, specifically to enhance the washing and recycling of railway ballast. To meet this need, they invested in a fully modular Bruce WashPod and a separate Sand Plant, supplied by our partner, metcam ag.

The project was delivered in collaboration with our partners Tecnoidea and metcam ag, to provide a complete, containerised wash plant integrated with an advanced wastewater treatment system.

A key challenge of the installation was the limited access at the site, with a 12m high enclosed roof space. Despite this, the team successfully installed the plant, avoiding the need to dismantle any part of the existing building.

Extensive pre-planning and close coordination among all project partners ensured that any potential barriers were proactively addressed and resolved, leading to a smooth and efficient installation.

WASHING SOLUTION

Durmin Deploys Bruce WashPod for Railway Ballast Washing.

Durmin has successfully integrated the Bruce WashPod and an additional Cyclone Sand Plant into its operations to process sub-70mm railway ballast — a byproduct of its service activities. The raw material is initially screened, with the sub-70mm fraction fed directly into the WashPod. Through a comprehensive scrubbing, trash removal, and rinsing sequence, the plant produces clean, saleable aggregates in 4-16mm and 16-70mm sizes, alongside high-quality 0-4mm & 0-2mm sand products. These outputs are customer-specific to suit their local industry.

The WashPod is recognised as the most compact wash plant currently available on the market. Its modular, containerised design drastically reduces installation, dismantling, and relocation times.

As a certified Hardox® Wearparts Centre for Ireland, durability is a key factor while manufacturing the WashPod, boasting strong build quality, long service life, and reliability throughout the Bruce range. Additional high-performance components from other trusted brands are incorporated throughout the system, enhancing overall performance.

 

PLANT DETAILS

The Bruce WashPod is a fully containerised washing system. The modular components enable a fast and easy setup, and the self-contained design facilitates site relocation with minimal downtime.

The additional BWS-40 Cyclone Sand Plant maximises fines recovery to produce a high-quality dewatered sand product.
